Who We Are
Dinu Mahapatuna
President
Hi everyone! I’m Dinu and this year's CASE president. I’m a ‘writer’ (kind of?) and have been published by CBC Montreal, SPACE, yolk, pixie, and Soliloquies! My primary interest is ensuring your academic interests are well represented, so please do not hesitate to contact me should you feel even a minor concern arise. Plus, you’d be doing my otherwise unjustified restlessness a favour; I love nothing better than solving a conundrum! Apart from being alarmingly incapable of avoiding donuts, I am best known for running late.
Emily Wilkinson
English Literature Member-at-Large
As a part-time Honours Literature student and full-time C.A.S.E. member, I’m here to support English Lit students – or anyone taking an English Lit class – by connecting you with resources, and making dialogue with faculty and administration easier. Got questions about writing or research, department stuff, accessing support, or getting your work out there? I may not have the answer, but I’ll find out who does! Meanwhile, I’ll aim to get your feedback and bright ideas heard by profs and admins, and to open avenues for conversation so we can all get on the same page about helping students succeed.
Nina Cloutier
Creative Writing Member-at-Large
Hey hey! My name's Nina and I'm thrilled to be this year's Creative Writing Member at Large. In addition to my usual activities of hibernating with a book or trying to find the perfect ratio of brown sugar to cocoa powder for the ultimate hot chocolate, I hope to spend my time with CASE developing a resource that emerging writers can use to answer the scary question of, what next? I've written my piece, what next? I've attended the workshops, what next? The answer isn't clear, nor is it the same for every case (pun absolutely intended), but my goal is to hopefully shed some light on the possibilities that exist for your writing out in the world! With all that being said, I look forward to a fantastic year!
Morgan Gordon
VP of Publications
Morgan Gordon (she/her) is a Tio:tia’ke/Montreal based artist pursuing a BA in Creative Writing with a minor in Film Studies at Concordia University. Her art seeks to explore questions of identity, girlhood, the body, and what freaks other people out. Currently, she is serving as co-editor-in-chief at Soliloquies Anthology and is on the Visual Arts pod of Yolk Literary Magazine. When she isn’t consumed in a world of her own, you can catch her cuddling with her cat, Fat Bastard.
Louise van Oel
VP of Academic Affairs
Louise van Oel is a student in the Joint Specialisation English and History, and she is delighted to be stepping into the role of CASE's VP of Academic Affairs this year. Come see her during her office hours if you're experiencing any problems related to your academic life, or if you just want to time how quickly you can start her on a rant about a funny Old English literature fact she just learned.
Isabela Marino
VP of Finance
Hey! I'm Isabela and I'm so honoured to be a your VP of Finance for CASE this year! As your fellow English and Creative Writing student, I want to go beyond the budget and work with you to spread a sense of community in our department. That's why this year my goal is to launch brand new merchandise so you can show off your love for the English Department with pride! Come find me in the CASE office or around campus for a chat with any questions or ideas you may have! I'm here for you.
Leslie Simpliciano-Szigeti
VP of Social Affairs
I'm Leslie Simpliciano-Szigeti and I'm a third year student majoring in Creative Writing & Music. My main interests are in poetry and songwriting. My objectives for this year are to help tear down as many walls as possible when it comes to accessing resources for students in English and provide as many fun opportunities as I can for people to meet, learn, and grow together.
